Property Lookup
Enter any two properties of a state and solve for the rest. Water and R-134a auto-detect saturated vs superheated regions. Ideal gases close P·v = R·T and pull h, u, s from variable-specific-heat tables.

Frequently asked
- What is a thermodynamic property lookup?
- Enter any two properties of a state — pressure, temperature, specific volume, quality, enthalpy, internal energy, entropy — and the calculator solves the rest. Water and R-134a automatically detect whether the state is saturated (inside the dome) or superheated, and switch property tables accordingly.
- Which property tables does this use?
- Standard undergraduate textbook tables: saturation (temperature- and pressure-keyed) and superheated tables for water and R-134a, plus ideal-gas tables for air, CO₂, CO, O₂ and NO₂ with variable specific heats. Values are linearly interpolated between table rows, exactly as you would by hand.
- Can I use imperial units?
- Yes. Toggle between SI (kPa, °C, m³/kg, kJ/kg) and English (psi, °F, ft³/lbm, Btu/lbm) at any time. Inputs convert on solve, so you can enter a problem in the units your textbook uses.
- Is this free?
- Yes. All calculators are free, with no account required. Results are computed in your browser from the property tables — nothing is uploaded.
